MEPCO: Engineer Mahar Allah Yar Bharwana, CEO of Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has requested an explanation from the XEN Musa Pak division on the non-implementation of safety SOPs.
Additionally, he has given orders to punish dismissal from employment for any accident caused by carelessness on the part of concerned officials or employees, as well as appreciation certificates and awards for officials who successfully apply safety SOPs.
On Sunday, CEO MEPCO received a visit from Director HSE Power Planning and Monitoring Company (PPMC), Tufail Ahmad Sheikh, to discuss ways to lower the rate of on-the-job accidents among line employees while keeping the value of human lives in mind.
According to Mahar Allah Yar Bharwana, safety cells have been set up at the circle level to monitor the performance of the on-duty staff, and the Health, Safety, and Environment directorate teams at headquarters are also making unexpected site visits every day in order to carry out the directives of the Ministry of Energy, NEPRA and PPMC, which are producing beneficial results.
According to Tufail Ahmad Sheikh, director of the HSE PPMC, when he checked different sub-divisions in the Multan and Muzaffargarh districts, the rate of line employees using T&P/PPE stayed improved.
Additionally, Director HSE suggested giving Muzaffargarh division teams cash prizes and certificates of appreciation.
According to Tufail, our teams checked safety SOPs while line staff members were on duty in electricity distribution companies across the nation, and the MEPCO region’s line staff performed better than that of other companies.
At the MEPCO Regional Training Center, they held two training sessions for line employees, in which more than 100 linemen actively participated.
Other officials, including Director General HR & Admin Liaqat Ali Memon, Chief Engineer O&M Distribution Rana Muhammad Ayub Khan, General Manager Operations Nasir Ayaz Gurmani, General Manager Customer Services Jam Gul Muhammad Zahid, General Manager Technical Zafar Iqbal Gul, and General Manager Technical were present.
