According to a MEPCO official on Thursday, 246 power thieves were caught during different operations carried out across South Punjab last week.
Over 246,000 electrical units were stolen during MEPCO teams’ raids with task forces in Multan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to Mepco official sources, a fine of more than Rs 6.2 million was imposed on the thieves, and FIRs were filed against 27 of them due to their involvement in tampering with metre bodies, direct supply, installing loops in metres, slowing down metres, metre dead stops, and metre screen washing.
