Multan: According to a MEPCO official, 61 power robbers were detained on Thursday during various operations carried out across South Punjab in a single day. 62,000 electrical units were stolen during MEPCO teams’ raids with task forces in Multan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffargarh, BahawalÂnagar, Khanewal, and DG Khan.
MEPCO enforces strict penalties and legal actions against individuals involved in electricity theft. Offenders can face fines, imprisonment, and disconnection of their power supply, sending a clear message that power pilfering will not be tolerated.
Communities in South Punjab are actively participating in the fight against power theft. Through various programs and initiatives, MEPCO is encouraging residents to report suspicious activities and support efforts to prevent electricity theft.
Power Pilferers were fined more than Rs1.4 million for engaging in activities such as tampering with meter bodies, direct supply, inserting loops in meters, slowing down meters, meters dead stop, and meters screen washing.
