NEPRA Held Conference on Eradication of Corruption

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) organized the seminar in support of NAB’s theme “Our Faith, Corruption-Free Pakistan” for creating awareness against different manifestations of corruption such as bribery, nepotism, misuse of Authority, etc which causes socio-economic and governance related problems.

The seminar held at NEPRA Headquarters, Islamabad was presided over by Chairman NEPRA, Mr. Tauseef H. Farooqi, and attended by a large number of NEPRA Professionals and Senior Management of NAB.

Mr. Tauseef H. Farooqi, Chairman of NEPRA in his opening remarks appreciated NAB’s efforts of waging “JIHAD” against corruption and said that NEPRA being one of the responsible and transparent organizations believes in zero-tolerance towards corruption.

He further said that for the eradication of this evil, NEPRA being a sole regulator of the power sector has been providing technical support and expertise to the NAB in a number of power sector cases and will do so on in the future, if required.

He also shed light on various efforts especially digitization and online availability of the Authority’s decisions and determinations for the information of all for the sake of transparency and information.

Mr. Shahzad Saleem, DG of NAB A&P Division (HQ) shed light on different manifestations of corruption and NAB efforts through its various strategies in eradicating the same i.e. creating awareness, prevention, and enforcement of measures.

He also elaborated that their efforts will not succeed until and unless all segments of society join hands with them against this menace. He also appreciated the efforts of the NEPRA in their technical support as well as in organizing this seminar.

In the end, both organizations expressed their support for eliminating corruption in Pakistan.
