LAHORE: This Government has been urged by the All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers’ Union to regularise the staff members who have been working well on a contract basis for years.
In front of LESCO Headquarters Queen Road, hundreds of employees from Grid, Line, Ministerial, and Accounts met to discuss this. In support of their concerns, the workers were waving banners and national flags.
The union’s general secretary, Khurshid Ahmed, urged the federal minister to regularise workers who had been doing their jobs well for years in accordance with a prior agreement made between the union and management.
In contrast to permitting their exploitation through the denial of their fundamental right, he reminded the federal and provincial governments that it is a basic right of the workers to be brought on a permanent basis in compliance with labor laws.
He encouraged the LESCO workers to become more united and make constructing a society built on equality and brotherhood their just cause.
Other union representatives who spoke during the event included Haji Muhammad Younas, Rana Abdul Shakoor, Muzaffar Mateen, Sarfraz Hundal, Waliur Rehman, Haji Lateef, and Ch Maqsood Ahmed.
