LESCO will be Fined for Overbilling to Consumers on Slow Meters

LESCO has violated the NEPRA’s rule of Detection Bills Policy, this year. As a consequence, NEPRA has issued a show-cause notice to LESCO for this violation.
In case, LESCO official doesn’t answer the notice within the mentioned time period they will be fined 20 Crores Rs which is huge.
What is a Detection Bills Policy?
If a person or an organization is found involved in electricity theft or any restricted activity with their meters then LESCO can fine them and could implement the Detection Bills Policy
According to the policy, any DISCO can charge the consumer for 2 months only. But LESCO has done it for the last 6 months which is clearly a violation.
They have done it to show the surplus and to show the officials that electricity theft and line losses are quite low. Lahore Electric Supply Company did this to those consumers who had a slow meter performance.
